This is a gorgeou handwoven huipil from the Costa Chica of Oaxaca. The huipil is woven of soft hand spun cotton and embroidered with silk. The brown color is the natural color of the native coyuchi cotton from the region. The beautiful red color is made from a natural dye called cochinilla Huipiles from this region are difficult to come by and this is a fabulous example.
